China Book Center in Egypt unveiled

The unveiling ceremony of the Chinese Book Center in Egypt and the China-Egypt cultural exchange meeting "My Reading of China: Cultural Elements in Modern Urban Development" were recently held at Badr University in Cairo, Egypt.

  Hu Kaihong, full-time deputy director of the Central Office for Spiritual Civilization Construction, said at the event that this year is the "China-Egypt Partnership Year" and the unveiling of the China Book Center in Egypt and the China-Egypt Cultural Exchange Conference will help enhance cultural exchanges and cooperation between young people of China and Egypt, promote mutual learning and mutual improvement in urban civilization construction between China and Egypt, and innovate dialogue and communication between cultural institutions of China and Egypt.

 

  Ashraf Shishi, president of Badr University, said that the Egyptian Chinese Book Center provides a platform for students to understand China, and he hopes that Badr University and China Foreign Language Bureau can further deepen cooperation and jointly promote the improvement of the Egyptian Chinese Book Center. Badr University will encourage students from all departments to learn Chinese and experience the excellent Chinese culture.

 

  In his speech, Liao Liqiang, Chinese Ambassador to Egypt, said that the establishment of the China Book Center in Egypt is an important achievement of China-Egypt cultural cooperation and marks a new height in the relationship between the two countries. Books are an important carrier of cultural exchange and inheritance. He hopes that Chinese and Egyptian youth will enhance mutual understanding through the book center, consolidate the foundation of friendly public opinion, promote exchanges and mutual learning between the two civilizations, and contribute to the inheritance of friendship between the two countries from generation to generation.

 

  The Egyptian Chinese Book Center received 1,000 donated books this time, covering multiple categories including China's national conditions, traditional culture, economy and society, striving to present a real, three-dimensional and comprehensive China.

 

  This event is one of the series of cultural exchange activities of "Perceiving China" in Egypt. The event is jointly sponsored by China Foreign Languages Publishing Administration, Badr University and China State Construction Engineering Corporation, and hosted by the Cultural Communication Center of China Foreign Languages Publishing Administration, China Book Center, China State Construction Engineering Corporation Egypt Branch and the School of Language and Translation of Badr University.
