News:Recently, with sufficient practical experience and high qualifications, Intertek Group's laboratory has been approved by the Biodegradable Products Institute (BPI) of the United States and has become a BPI accredited laboratory, which will assist local and multinational companies to ensure that their products And packaging meet strict compostability testing standards, so as to realize the quality, safety, social and environmental responsibility value of products and enterprises.


  The Biodegradable Products Institute (BPI) is the pioneer and leader in North America in providing certification for compostable products and packaging. BPI Certification Mark (BPI Certification Mark) indicates that the compostability of products and packaging has been verified by third-party experiments. Manufacturers and brands use the BPI certification mark on their products and packaging to visually inform consumers and other end users, as well as composting plant staff, that the product or packaging (waste) can be composted.



  Dr. Chen Xiaopeng, Technical Director of Intertek Light Industry Products Division, introduced: To obtain BPI certification, products must pass the tests specified in ASTM D6400 or ASTM D6868. In addition to providing the above two biodegradable standard tests to help products obtain BPI certification, Intertek also continues to pay attention to the trends of policies, regulations and standards in various countries and regions, and provides a series of tests for biodegradable materials under various degradation environmental conditions. Testing services to verify that products and packaging comply with product standards and evaluation standards in many countries and regions, such as ISO 17088, EN 14995, EN 13432, AS 4736, AS 5810, GB/T 41010, etc.



  The rapid development of the biodegradable industry will greatly reduce the use of traditional plastics and greatly reduce the carbon emissions of plastics produced by the current petroleum route. The global action of carbon neutrality has started, and Intertek is also a partner in carbon reduction. Intertek Laboratories developed testing capabilities for ASTM D6691 on the rate of biodegradation of plastics in the marine environment. This test method determines the extent and rate of biodegradation of plastics upon exposure to at least 10 known genera of aerobic marine microorganisms (or pre-grown populations of microorganisms in natural seawater). This test method is applicable to all polymeric materials with a carbon content of at least 20% that are not inhibitory to microorganisms in the marine environment. Materials other than plastics can also be tested with reference to this test method.
