Journalist: In 2025, exports withstood the pressure from the external environment and achieved stable growth. What do you think are the main driving forces for its growth? What are the highlights?
Deputy Director General of the General Administration of Customs Wang Jun: Last year, China's exports withstood the headwinds and the scale reached 26.99 trillion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 6.1%. The reasonable growth in quantity originated from the effective improvement in quality, which is highlighted in three aspects:
First, we have innovated to adapt to international market demand. In 2025, the export of high-tech products increased by 13.2% year-on-year, contributing 2.4 percentage points to the growth of China's exports. Among them, the exports of special equipment, high-end machine tools, and industrial robots increased by 20.6%, 21.5%, and 48.7% respectively. Especially, the export of industrial robots exceeded the import last year, and China became a net exporter of industrial robots. At the same time, traditional industries are transforming and upgrading, constantly revitalizing. For example, ceramic enterprises integrate traditional Chinese craftsmanship with overseas culture, and the new-style ceramic trees have become a new choice for foreign holiday decorations; home appliance enterprises have developed "desert air conditioners" that can still work normally when the outdoor temperature exceeds 60 degrees Celsius, and the export market is getting bigger and bigger.
Second, green energy has promoted the global low-carbon transformation. In the field of green energy, lithium batteries and wind power units have increased by 26.2% and 48.7% respectively in exports in 2025; in the field of green travel, electric motorcycles and bicycles have increased by 18.1% in exports; in the field of green production, industrial gas purification equipment has increased by 17.3% in exports and electric forklifts have increased by 5.2% in exports. High-quality green supply has provided a Chinese solution for the global green transformation.
Third, cooperation promotes common development. In 2025, China's trade in intermediates achieved rapid growth, which was the main driving force for exports and provided strong support for global industrial cooperation. China's export market has become more diversified, with exports to Belt and Road countries growing by 11.2%, contributing 5.4 percentage points to the growth of exports, and ASEAN has become China's largest export market for three consecutive years. The growth rate of exports to emerging markets such as Latin America, the Middle East, Central Asia, and Africa is all faster than the overall. China continues to provide the world with high-quality and reasonably priced, stable and reliable product supply, and has become a "key link" in the global industrial and supply chain.
Overall, China's exports have made more progress in innovation, green development, and win-win cooperation. The "Made in China" goods are highly popular around the world, playing a significant role in ensuring the stability of global industrial and supply chains, and have also injected determinacy and brought new opportunities to global economic and trade development.
