Meng Wei pointed out that the control of over packaging of commodities is related to resource conservation and environmental protection, and the vital interests of the people. It is of great significance for the green transformation of production and lifestyle and the realization of carbon peak and carbon neutralization. In recent years, various localities and relevant departments have carried out a lot of work to deal with the problem of excessive packaging, and achieved some results. However, with the rapid development of new consumption formats, the phenomenon of excessive packaging of goods has the potential to make a comeback. In this context, the General Office of the State Council issued the Notice on Further Strengthening the Governance of Excessive Packaging of Commodities, which not only demonstrates the governance determination under the new situation, but also clarifies the roadmap and construction drawings for strengthening the governance of excessive packaging of commodities.
The Notice clarifies the governance objectives: by 2025, a whole chain governance system for over packaging of goods will be basically formed, the industry management level will be significantly improved, and the online and offline integrated law enforcement and supervision mechanism will be effectively operated.
